Tucked away in the heart of the beautiful Usk Valley,

Glen-yr-Afon House Hotel & Restaurant is a family run hotel with over 50 years of experience, offering a warm welcome and a high level of personal service. Originally built in 1868, the house has a long and interesting history, evolving over time before opening as a hotel by Peter & Jan Clarke in 1974 and going on to welcome generations of guests. Over the years it has been thoughtfully extended and improved, including the addition of the Library in 1982 with it's striking conical ceiling, and further developments in the 1990's which created additional bedrooms and a beautiful Ballroom. Tim Strong became part of The Glen-yr-Afon family in 1984, with Alex Brown joining a few years later. Together they became directors in 2008 and now proudly run the business.

Today, the hotel  brings together character and comfort, with Clarke's Restaurant, led by Head Chef Julie Carey for over 30 years -an elegant setting for dining, alongside the Ballroom that has played host to many weddings and celebrations over the years. With stylish rooms, attractive gardens, and a relaxed friendly atmosphere, Glen-yr-Afon remains a place to unwind, celebrate and return to again and again.

Usk has recently been voted in The Sunday Times as the best place to live in Wales and with  a 4 Star Gold rating from Visit Wales, our Hotel is the perfect setting for an excellent staycation in South Wales. Our 27-bedroom hotel  offers exemplary en-suite accommodation for everyone from business guests to holidaymakers. A charming two bedroomed cottage is also available in the grounds,

as self-catering accommodation.
