Our award winning South Wales hotel offers relaxation and a high level of personal service and attention, all in a rural location in the lovely county of Monmouthshire overlooking the banks of the River Usk.

The business opened its doors in March 1974 and has welcomed many thousands of satisfied customers through them ever since - for conferences, parties, weddings (ceremonies and receptions), dinner parties, afternoon tea, Sunday lunch, birthday celebrations, accommodation or just a quiet drink in the bar.

Set in well-maintained gardens, the architecture of this beautiful privately owned Victorian Villa means that none of its 27 rooms are the same, the angles creating rooms of individual character, style and space. A number have two floors, which can be ideal for families.

Accommodation

Among the many unique features of the hotel, guests will find that each of its 27 rooms are different. From the four-poster bridal suite to family rooms, all guest bedrooms are individual in character and shape due to the villa's architecture.

Furnished to a high standard, every room is fully en suite with trouser press, flat-screen television/DVD player, telephone, tea and coffee making facilities and most have views of the hotel's spacious gardens. Find out more about our special hotel breaks for your visit to South Wales!

Along with family rooms we have a room with wheelchair and passenger lift access close by.
All rates quoted include a full English breakfast from our a la carte breakfast menu. A wide selection of fruit juices, cereals are available together with freshly baked croissants and home-made jams.

Our award winning Clarkes restaurant is open from 7pm to 9.45pm and serves a variety of dishes from light meals through to an excellent selection of a la carte dinners.

Afternoon Tea

Our popular Afternoon Teas are offered daily from 3pm although we strongly recommend that you book beforehand to avoid disappointment. For guests wishing to treat themselves, someone special or indulge in some 'time out' with colleagues, an Afternoon Tea can be just the tonic you need.

An Afternoon Tea menu can also be provided for larger groups celebrating a special birthday, a retirement, a reunion or perhaps a family gathering prior to, or following a wedding celebration.

We have a variety of venue rooms available including our cosy Lounge overlooking the lawn at the front of the hotel where guests are made to feel very much 'at home'. Afternoon tea...

We are delighted to announce that at the National Wedding Awards held on 20th November 2011, the Glen-Yr-Afon House Hotel was voted as Best Wedding Venue in Wales.

Out of the 25 semi-finalists from wedding venues all over Wales, we received the most votes and best feedback from our customers. We are particularly proud of this achievement as the votes are cast by couples that have held their wedding celebrations with us - so thanks to all who voted.

When it comes to that special occasion leave us to take care of the details - from floral decorations, a choice of wedding breakfasts to accommodation needs at special rates. To make your wedding planning easier, you may decide to choose one of our popular all-inclusive wedding packages!

You can even have the marriage ceremony at the Glen-Yr-Afon. Please contact our dedicated wedding coordinator at the earliest possible opportunity so that together we can plan "the perfect day" - then relax and leave it to us. We take wedding bookings well in advance. You should contact us as soon as possible to check availability.

We sometimes have dates available up to the last minute, especially for less traditional days such as Monday - Thursdays, so it's often worthwhile giving us a call.

At this point we can also arrange for you to come and visit the hotel, have a look round and discuss your general requirements. You are welcome to place a provisional booking for an agreed date and this booking will be held for two weeks after which we will need you to confirm your position.
