The Glen-Yr-Afon Hotel boasts a ideal location in the heart of the Monmouthshire countryside perfect to explore South Wales & the Welsh Borders. A short walk from the quaint town of Usk, the hotel has excellent road links to Cardiff and the Midlands

The Glen-Yr-Afon House Hotel is the perfect base to explore the sights of Monmouthshire and Southern Wales in your leisure time. Located within a dozen miles of the hotel are many excellent golf courses including the Celtic Manor that hosted the Ryder Cup in 2010.

Usk itself is a pleasant place to visit and has been voted the place in Wales to live! It sits on one of the finest salmon fishing rivers in the country, the River Usk. A regular winner of Wales in Bloom, the pretty and well cared for town hosts many charming shops, a colourful Open Gardens weekend in June and the popular Usk county show in September. Usk town is a short walk over the river bridge from the hotel. Here you will find a selection of shops, Usk Castle, The Museum of Rural Life and a Town Trail which includes 28 sites of historic interest.

Picturesque surroundings and a 4 Star Gold rating from Visit Wales make Glen Yr Afon House Hotel the perfect setting for an excellent staycation in South Wales. Built beside the river in the pretty town of Usk, Monmouthshire, our 27-bedroom hotel is privately owned, family run and offers exemplary en-suite accommodation for everyone from business guests to holidaymakers. A charming two bedroomed cottage is also available in the grounds, as self-catering accommodation.

Explorers frequently find their way to the atmospheric ruins of Tintern Abbey – the inspiration for numerous artists and photographers – and the Brecon Beacons National Park, with its splendid mountains and walking trails. Glen Yr Afon is a prestigious wedding venue and also offers packages for special interest groups, such as anglers fishing the Usk and Wye for salmon, or golfers visiting outstanding parkland courses around Monmouth, Chepstow, Abergavenny and walking the Brecon Beacons. The Brecon Beacons National Park and Sugar Loaf mountain are only a short drive away should you wish to partake of the many walks available.

Adding an historical flavour to your visit, Monmouthshire has many attractions including Castles, Roman settlements and of course reminders of the area's industrial heritage such as Big Pit mining museum in Blaenavon.
