In the first ever Welsh National Awards couples voted in their thousands to recognise the businesses in the wedding industry that made a difference to their special day.

At a presentation evening held at Parc-y-Scarlets in Llanelli on Sunday 20th November, having earlier been awarded the Best Wedding Venue in the South East region category, the Glen-yr-Afon went on to beat the 24 other short-listed venues to be crowned the best wedding venue in the whole of Wales.

Tim Strong, General Manager at the Hotel said ‘We are absolutely delighted to receive the award. It is particularly special as the votes are cast by our own customers and recognition at this level is a welcome acknowledgment of the hard-work of all of our staff. We are extremely fortunate to have a dedicated team who are passionate about delivering an exceptional level of customer service that has now been formally recognised at a National Level'.

Carol Knight, Wedding Co-ordinator said ‘The planning and running of a wedding here means that each and everyone of our team has an important part to play. We have an enviable reputation for service quality and delivery which is in no small way due to excellent teamwork by all of the staff from the chefs and housekeepers to front- of -house and groundsman. It is only right that brides and grooms have a special day delivered in a professional and caring manner and I am pleased that, after many years of hard-work, this high level of service has been acknowledged by receipt of this prestigious award.’

The Glen-Yr-Afon House Hotel has been hosting weddings for 37 years and is licensed for civil ceremonies from the small group to larger parties of up to 150 guests. This year the venue has hosted a record number and delighted 120 couples and their guests who have chosen the Hotel for their celebrations.
