Blog Usk Open Gardens

On the last full weekend of June 2019- Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th - around 20 of the private gardens in Usk are open to visitors 10am-5pm, to raise money for local charities.   People travel long distances to experience this event and we are delighted to offer accommodation for those wishing to take advantage of staying the area.  The hotel is located just a short walking distance from the town so you can leave your car here and stroll across the bridge.

The gardens range from small cottage gardens to the grand sweep of medieval Usk Castle. All are in walking distance of the free car parks and there is a regular mini-bus service around the town (10am - 4.45pm).

Usk is an historic town on the banks of the river Usk just 20 minutes drive from the Severn bridge. Have a picnic on the banks of the river, or there are many great places to eat and drink. The Victorian Courthouse and Rural Life Museum throw their doors open to the public and there is a Gardener's Market, with plants at very reasonable prices.

There is ample free parking in the main car parks plus a coach park. All are well signposted. There is also free blue-badge parking at Usk Castle car park.

You can buy your Garden Passport from one of the Maryport St free car parks, or in Twyn Square. The gardens are open 10am - 5pm on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June 2019: admission is £7.50 for one day or £10.00 for the whole weekend. Children aged 14 and under are admitted free. The passport provides a map and description of each garden and advises on wheelchair accessibility for each garden and whether dogs are allowed in each garden.

Usk Open Gardens has become a regular pre-Hampton Court RHS venue.
