TERMS AND CONDITIONS -

The date for our Annual Wedding Fayre has been announced!

The Wedding Fayre will be taking place on Sunday 27th October 2013.

Proud of our award as the Best Wedding Venue in Wales, we invite you to come and see for yourselves this beautiful wedding venue in the heart of Monmouthshire, South Wales.

We have invited a selection of our most trusted suppliers so that you can have confidence in the quality of supplier you select to contribute to your very special day.

The fayre is open between 12 noon and 4pm. Admission is free. Registration is not required.

Charity Donations

Charity Cheques presented

The Glen-Yr-Afon House Hotel held a presentation ceremony recently to donate funds raised at the Usk Show in September to local worthwhile charities.

A beautiful wooden dolls house kindly crafted and donated by Mr and Mrs Drew of Cwmbran was raffled at the Show by staff from both the Glen-Yr-Afon and its sister Hotel, The Three Salmons raising a total of £420.

This years charities of choice were The Jane Hathaway Leukaemia Fund and Ethan’s Wish to Walk who each received a cheque for £210 .

The Jane Hathaway Fund was set up by Tom and Georgina Hathaway after tragically, their daughter Jane, passed away at the age of 10 after losing a two-year battle against leukaemia in 1985. Now, her loving parents are devoted to raising money in her name by helping the LATCH charity that provides care and support to victims of the disease and their relatives. Their motive for raising money for the charity is simple - to help other families going through the agony of seeing their child suffering. Their money has helped fund research, buy new equipment and increase levels of care to give other families more time with their loved ones.

Ethan Jolosa is a 7 year old boy who was born with Cerebral Palsy (CP). He has a type of CP called Spastic Diplegia which affects his legs, making them tight and having to walk on his toes. Ethan’s family and friends are fundraising for him to have a pioneering operation which will hopefully allow Ethan to have flat feet and give him a chance to learn to walk. www.ethanswish2walk.co.uk

Alex Brown who made the presentation on behalf of the Glen-yr-Afon and its sister Hotel, the Three Salmons said ‘we are keen to ensure that we support local charities whenever possible and are delighted to support both of these very worthy causes’.

Title retained in the 2012 Welsh National Wedding Awards

At the Welsh National Wedding Awards 2012 held at Brangwyn Hall on Sunday 18th November 2012, the Glen-Yr-Afon House Hotel was again voted as the Best Wedding Venue in Wales for 2012.  

Having received the title at last years awards, we were delighted to have been selected again as the top wedding venue in Wales as voted for by couples that have held their wedding day here with us.   Thank you to all who voted for us and to our super team for their continued hard work.

GLEN-YR-AFON HOUSE HOTEL VOTED AS BEST WEDDING VENUE IN WALES

We are delighted to announce that the Glen-Yr-Afon House Hotel has been voted as Best wedding venue in Wales in the Welsh National Wedding Awards.

In the first ever Welsh National Awards couples voted in their thousands to recognise the businesses in the wedding industry that made a difference to their special day.

At a presentation evening held at Parc-y-Scarlets in Llanelli on Sunday 20th November, having earlier been awarded the Best Wedding Venue in the South East region category, the Glen-Yr-Afon went on to beat the 24 other short-listed venues to be crowned the best wedding venue in the whole of Wales.

Tim Strong, General Manager at the Hotel said ‘We are absolutely delighted to receive the award. It is particularly special as the votes are cast by our own customers and recognition at this level is a welcome acknowledgment of the hard-work of all of our staff. We are extremely fortunate to have a dedicated team who are passionate about delivering an exceptional level of customer service that has now been formally recognised at a National level’.

Thank you to everyone who visited us on our stand at Usk Show yesterday. The sun shone (and the wind blew) but that didn't deter us serving Pimms and biscuits cooked by our Chefs!

Congratulations to Ria Bancherus who is the winner of our Red and Black competition. Ria guessed that there were more black sweets in the jar and her guess was 201 sweets. She was the closest to the count of 205. Well done and £100 worth of Glen-yr-Afon gift vouchers are on their way to her!

We were also delighted to have been awarded third place in the 'Best Trade Stand' category... Good day all round...

Refurbishment Update

New Ballroom carpet

Laying of the new Ballroom carpet started on Monday 11th July 2011.  The elegant specially commissioned carpet will be fitted in the Ballroom and surrounding communal areas and is scheduled for completion on Wednesday 13th July.

Dining Club

Your invitation to join our Dining Club..

Now that the Royal wedding has passed the next most important event of the year is your Dining Club Membership renewal. The previous membership period has been extended until 31st May 2011 to allow for your application to be processed and your personalised Dining Club card to be issued.

All 2009/2011 members are being given this preferential opportunity to re-apply for membership prior to the review of our extensive waiting list.

As a regular visitor to the Glen-Yr-Afon you will no doubt be aware that in 2010 The Three Salmons in Usk became our sister hotel and has undergone extensive refurbishment over the last 12 months. We are delighted to announce that 2011 / 2013 Dining Club members will be able to enjoy benefits on each side of the River Usk truly ‘bridging’ the gap between both hotels.

You are cordially invited to apply for membership of the Dining Club to run until 31st May 2013 - for a one off charge of £20.00 for circulation via e-mail or £25.00 if circulated by post. (As frequent clients of the hotel you will appreciate that this charge would be recouped after only one Sunday luncheon visit!)
